School of Business Hall of Fame1 Comment
Some people might have already seen this news on the school website which was up till yesterday or so…
Here is the link of the news.
Right…I am going to be the Student of the Year (‘05-’06) of the SUNY New Paltz, School of Business!
How exciting is that!!
Actually, its nomination and selection happened last semester, and I was sort of hoping a chance.
Then, when I was studying for my final exams at the end of last semester, I just got this notice from the Dean of the School of Business that I got chosen for the Hall of Fame.
It was such an exciting moment, and actually it has been pretty exciting for me all the time since then
Although I was really excited, I didn’t know how to explain it to my parents in Japan because they have no idea about the concept of “Hall of Fame” in general.
I tried to explain it by telling them that only one student gets chosen a year and the induction ceremony is going to be really nice and blah blah blah…
Basically, I couldn’t really explain what the award itself is…
And! I found the information about the Hall of Fame in the School of Business website.
Let me quote the mission of the Hall of Fame from the website.
“The Hall of Fame of the School of Business serves as a place where achievement is recognized, rewarded, and encouraged for those who have made significant contributions to their respective business professions and also a significant positive impact on the educational activities of the School of Business.”
So, I guess this helps me a bit to explain the award to my parents and friends.
Beginning of this semester, all four inductees met up in the School of Business for the photo-shoot.
Here is the picture of the inductees.
Last week, the article about this Hall of Fame was on two local papers, Daily Freeman and New Paltz Times.
You know what I did?
I went to buy 6 copies of each paper that the article is on and have them saved in my room!!
I never thought that my name was going to be on newspapers in the US, so I got too excited when I heard about it. lol
Also, I want to send the papers to my parents and some friends to share my excitement!
Yeah, so this whole thing has been extremely exciting to me.
It’s a great honor and I still cannot really believe I am getting it this year.
I cannot wait till the Induction Ceremony in May!!
