Yo! You Rock That Vote!

It’s almost November 4!  I hope you have registered to vote! Woo!

Yesterday, I went to Rock the Vote!

Rock the Vote is an outdoor concert that took place on Old Main Quad, that encouraged individuals to register to vote.  There were several speakers, in addition to some local bands, including No, Wobble, the Paint Cans, the Rhodes and the Big Takeover!  I have to say, they were all great, but I am a personal fan of the Big Takeover!  My friend Chas plays sax in the band, and it is awesome to watch him perform!  We met at Orientation two years ago (wow!) and it has been awesome seeing him mature as a musician and watching his musical career take off.. not to mention that we used to sit next to each other in Symphonic Band!  Nevertheless, the Big Takeover is AWESOME, and it was fabulous to get to listen to them play while supporting such a great cause!

The Big Takeover in Old Main Quad:

The weather was beautiful and it was nice to relax on the quad, hang out with friends, drink Pumpkin Spice Lattes from Starbucks, and encourage members of our community to vote!

And a Dragonfly landed on Eli!

It was a wonderful event!  It was super fun and really made a positive impact in our community.

In addition, as a Resident Assistant, it is my responsibility to create a bulletin board each month.  My theme for the year is preserving paper and using recycled materials, so this month, my board is a combination of recycling and registering to vote.  I am REALLY excited because in the lower right corner I have an envelope (well, dyed newspaper) full of voter registration slips, and I’ve had to refill it twice, woo!  Check out my board:

I hope that YOU are registered to vote, because our future is in our hands, and your voice matters! :)   With that, have an excellent evening!  Enjoy! -Jessie
