I don’t like titles but I do kind of like HEROES?

Monday, October 6th, 2008

So this stressful week is nearing an end (even though it’s only Tuesday). Thank Kevin’s heavens! It seemed like everything was due this week. I had an Interpersonal test to study for which was on Monday as well as a paper that was due for that class. I also have a paper for my human services class due on Tuesday and a Communication test Tuesday night. Finally, my seminar paper is due on Wednesday. Not to mention I had another human service paper due this past Friday. So as you can see I’m a busy stressed out boy. You also have to throw in some Orientation duties, Student Ambassador duties, and RA duties so sometimes managing all of this stuff gets to be a little tricky. One thing that I really learned here at New Paltz however which really comes in handy is good time management skills. You don’t know how important these are until you actually get to college. So instead of saving all of this stuff to do over the weekend I decided to break up all this work and actually get it done like 2 and a half weeks ago. GO ME!!

With that big 5 day break and me working here the entire summer I WANTED TO DO NOTHING WORK OR SCHOOL RELATED WHILE I WAS AT HOME! you got me? NOTHING! So I did just that and I did everything before my break. Now I get to hand in my assignments and hopefully wish for the best grade possible.

Speaking of grades I’m really excited because I finally got my test score back for my Psychology of Adolescence and Adulthood exam and I got a 97, the highest grade in the class. I’m not bragging though, I’m just blogging. I was really excited and surprised because I studied a lot for it but it was definitely one of those tests that could’ve went either way.

Now totally switching subjects, I just got finished watching HEROES!!! I’m kind of in denial and I don’t really want to say this, but I’m really not impressed so far. I think that this season the writers are just trying too hard to come up with these crazy, insane, mind-blowing scenarios but they’re totally failing at life and in the end it’s just boring and somewhat confusing. At first I didn’t really like the whole direction that the character Sylar was going in, but now I kind of do like it. I guess time will only tell whether or not this season gets better or not, but I’m starting to get impatient and I don’t really want it to be like another season 2 where the first ten episodes stink and then the last two are good. I just don’t want that. So please HEROES, get better before I turn you off, even though I know I’ll never actually do that. How does everyone else feel about it so far?!?!?

Let me know and we can vent about it together!

I’ll be writing soon,

Kevin

Rock le VOT!

Monday, October 6th, 2008

I know at one time or another you all have been told to get involved in school and all the wonderful extra-curricular activities that school has to offer.  Well, just in case you were wondering: they are right! This past weekend, I went to Rock The VOTE at Old Main Quad and it was a DE-light. On the topic of getting involved, I was doubly involved this weekend because I was not only supporting Q.A.C by going to Rock The VOTE, but I was also supporting voting, and all the other organizations that were there.  To much dismay, I was only able to stay for an hour because I had laundry and other errands and such to tend to, but hey: better than NOTHIN’!  But an hour was good because I got to spend some time with fellow Q.A.C.-ers, listen to the LIVE music, educate myself and take some pretty snazzy pictures!

On that note, I would like to invite all of you to purchase a digital camera (you did?  GREAT!) and take it along with you, wherever you go.  That is precisely what I do, and let me tell you, it works splendidly.  There are more Kodak moments in a day than you could ever think up, and it should be for your photographic enjoyment that you document the day.  For example, when you’re at Rock The VOTE and NP Blogger Holly decides to “dance” to the live music, you can capitalize on this -and many other occasions- with a digital camera.  Speaking of which, I happen to have some choice pics from Rock The VOTE that I figured you’d all enjoy!

Anyway, enough Internet embarrassment!  I STRONGLY urge you to vote.  Think of it as your civic duty, that’s really fun!  No matter if you love ObamaNaderMcCain, or whoever else is on the ticket, just do it: VOTE.  Otherwise, you’d just be a Silly GOOSE if you didn’t!  I have recently discovered that the New Paltz Oracle (That’s our school Newspaper!) has published a sort of “both-sides-of-the-argument” two page spread in their paper stating the candidates’ positions on some major issues.  And get THIS:  The Information comes DIRECTLY from their websites!

So now you have NO excuse to “not vote” (<<what even IS that?)

Now as far as song for this post, well, I’m torn because as of late I have been listening to a lot of Frank Sinatra… so basically anything from:

“Fly Me To The Moon,”

“It Was A Very Good Year,”

to:

“Nancy,”

“My Way.”

Listen I tell you!

See You Lata,

Matt Stracq

pulling all nighters

Monday, October 6th, 2008

It isn’t even the middle of the semester and I’m already pulling an all nighter for a test tomorrow. I enjoyed myself this weekend, spending time with old friends, watching lots of movies for another class assignment, seeing Beverly Hills Chihuahua, Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, and Religulous, eating out in town and helping co-sponsor Rock the Vote on campus. However it is Monday morning at the wee hours and I now find myself depleted of money, hungry and sipping on energy drinks while listening to techno music to keep myself awake enough to study for this test. In other words, I am faced the consequences of a fun but irresponsible weekend. When I could have been studying between activities, I decided to sit out on the grass and read a book or watch a movie with a friend. This is a lesson to learn for all other weekends that I should plan ahead and actually stick to my schedule. Alright, I will get back to my Art of the Western World 2 work and stop procrastinating!

P.S. Has anyone ever realized how upbeat the band Justice is? You don’t need an energy drink if you listen to the track “Stress” long enough :)
