So Many Topics So Little Time

Saturday, November 8th, 2008

Let me start off, with an apology for not having blogged in a dog’s age.  As you could imagine I have been crizzAzy busy with school work, RM work, and napping the rest off!  I will also forewarn you that I will not be able to talk about all the lovely things I would like to talk about.

ANYWAY, there are a few things that must be mentioned such as November’s Open House and:

THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION OF THE FOURTY-FOURTH PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!

So Open House went well: same place, same time, only I got better about what I was saying and how I was saying it.  The F.Y.I. table was next to the S.O.A.R. table and RM Diana and I got to chill out with OL Felipe, OL Jennifer and OL Honor.  Oh, wait, what’s that you say? Oh, Tiffany -I didn’t mention her for a reason: she is away on a Leadership Conference this weekend, so Diana and I had to hold up the F.Y.I. Fort -which went very smoothly, indeed!

That being said…

ELECTION 2008!!!

Whoaley Moley!

IT-IS-NUTS!

First let me say that I was not only super thrilled that Barack Obama was elected, but that the naiton supported him with more than TWO-HUNDRED electoral votes up from his opponent.  That is absolutely incredible -and it comforts me that we are not so divided as we were thought to have been.  Let me also say, that it makes me truly proud of this great nation that the two major candidates gave excellent “outcome speeches” regarding the other candidate and the outcome of the election.  No matter who was elected, it makes me proud to see that our government is made up of such “class-acts” as Barack Obama, and John McCain, and that we were all able to support a candidate who breaks the mold -and in such a pinnacle time!  It had come to my attention that the issue of race was a factor in this campaign, and that with such a majority, we elected someone who is willing to bring about positive change for this nation, and for diversity as a whole.

Good Job, America!

In general, I am very hopeful in the rocky-road of a future that the world is about to embark on, that Obama is the President-elect that will do great for all of us.  I must say that back in the day -which was a Wednesday, by the way- I was completely undecided on who to vote for, but now, I feel as if the right choice has been made.  The future is also giving me hope for President Bush.  I know that history has a keen way of analyzing and evaluating what has occurred, and although Bush’s approval ratings are very low, I’d like to hear about the things that he did do well.

Overall I’m very hopeful and positive about the future, and have been listening to a lot of Beatles!

That being said:

The Beatles “Sexy Sadie”

The Beatles “Dig A Pony”

and

The Beatles “Sun King”

Peace,

Matt Stracq

the weekend!

After a very stressful week that included a BFA critique, a paper, a test and another critique in my thematic drawing class, I’m very relieved for everything to be over and for me to have some free time! Its the weekend, and events on campus have already begun such as buzz karaoke in Crispell hall. There are art openings this weekend that I will attend and hope I get inspired from and friends to see! Although doing lot of things is fun, sometimes its also nice to just hang out in a friends room, listen to music, dance around, watch some tv and just RELAX. I know, sometimes its a jarring thought to me too. But its very important to learn how to balance your work and your social life, and contrary to many beliefs, you can’t have one without the other. Although homework, projects and projects are very important, its also important to have some alone time to yourself! Whether you talk to friends, just veg out and watch lots of movies or take some classes for exercise or yoga, its very necessary to balance your life :) So its the weekend. I know there is still work to be done, and by all means do not ignore it. However, if you get it done tonight and tomorrow, then you have sunday free to hang out with friends and just have a good time. It might not seem serious to you now, but when you spend all day with your head in a book, at a computer, or in a studio, its nice to get some other human contact! So make sure you do something for yourself this weekend–just don’t forget that you have obligations also!
