Celebrate family and friends. Dove dark chocolate told me so.

Sunday, February 15th, 2009

Right now I’m watching No One Would Tell, a Lifetime movie with Fred Savage (Kevin Arnold from the Wonder Years) and Candace Cameron (little DJ from Full House)….so far so goood! Fred Savage is absolutely crazy with jealously….ooo jealously is a scary, scary emotion.

Anyway, yesterday was Valentine’s day! UH I love Valentine’s Day. I am a mush beyond belief sometimes. It’s one of my favorite holidays, Valentine’s day, and I love the idea of just spreading the love with either your boyfriend/girlfriend, friends, and/or family. It’s just such a nice idea.

Now I know so many people argue that it’s a stupid holiday and is solely made for the commercial aspect, BUT, it doesn’t have to be like that! You can be creative and make something with your bare hands… I mean, boys, you must know by now that all a girl really wants is for you to plan something special for them. If you prove that you’ve been thinking about her, either with a card or a mixed CD…it shows you care. It’s not about the gifts or the chocolate (although chocolate never hurt…) it’s about you doing something nice for her, from the bottom of your creative, caring heart! DER! :-) OR if you don’t have a boyfriend/girlfriend/love interest…what? Are you going to get all anti-Valentine’s and sulk!? I hope not! That’s the worst!

Well…I told you my love for Valentine’s day was a tad bit strong, so me and my two really good friends at New Paltz decided to have a Valentine’s Extravaganza….a Valentine’s Three-some if you will. All three of us are single, but we love Valentine’s Day and so we wanted to celebrate this holiday together! We had some rules for our night of love.  Some were (let me get out my sheet- Rules of Valentine’s Day 2009) Ah…here it is…

1. One must wear red and/or pink. 2. Must eat some type of chocolate. 3. Make your greatest effort to shape the pancakes into hearts 4. One must have at least 2 Valentine’s stickers on one’s body…..etc. etc.

We decorated my friend Renee’s apartment with some heart garland and candles. We decided our meal in advance, so we went grocery shopping! We made pancakes full of all different kinds of things- chocolate chips, bananas, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and strawberries. YUM! Then with the left over berries, we dipped them in chocolate and let them harden in the fridge! There was plenty of dark chocolate around (since it’s really yummy AND it is chock full of antioxidants.) Then, we watched some movies. Renee’s favorite movie is P.S. I love you, so we watched that and balled our eyes out. Then we watched Moulin Rouge while coloring from the three coloring books I purchased at the dollar store in town (Pirates, My first Pony, and Fairies.) OH I didn’t mention the best part. From the dollar store I bought some temporary tattoos!!! Oh yes- the old school sponge on tattoos. There are some lovely pictures!  Here, take a look:

This was one of the best Valentine’s Days I’ve ever had, and I’m not just saying so that. You don’t need a guy or a girl on Valentine’s day. Celebrate family and friends….. :-)
