“There’s a Light in My Life, and It’s Taking Me Over.”

Monday, March 2nd, 2009

Just in case you were wondering this blog post will be short, sweet and very deep!  Recently I have been thinking of old friends and memories of years past, and they (most of them, that is) are fond memories.  It makes me appreciate what we all have to give to the people around us, and the needs we fulfil while the good times last.  It makes me proud of the work I have done -yes of course, as an artist, and a brother, and a son, but also wholly, as a person.  I feel good about what I’ve been a part of and claiming my identity through those times and deeds.  However, with that, I am also proud and happy with where I am right now.

There are things going on, and thoughts in my mind that are brand new and uneasy at times, but overall, I’m extremely thankful and happy (there’s that word again!) for where it has led me to: here and now.  I believe that everything does happen for a reason and what has happened in my life shows its reasoning every once in a while, and I am just overcome with peace and joy.

If there is one thing you should do for this next week, whether it be writing and essay, looking at colleges, procrastinating and essay or living expressively and creatively through the world around you, I urge you to find the peace in your life.  To look into your past and lay out your life’s events on a table in front of you and be at peace with what has happened.

It got you here.

That’s where you need to be.

And I am sure that once you do, you’ll be in the unique position of growth and peace.

I also have another request, and that is to listen to these two songs and let them find their way into the moment.

Allow them to inspire you.

P.S.  Maybe not so short after all!
