Chris Levine Who?!

Yeah. I’m not really sure who he is either because I have been SO busy and totally forgot that I actually exist! A little dramatic, I understand, but sometimes I do feel that way. I don’t think I ever went into detail about how involved I am on campus, so let me fill you in. Chris Levine is, as follows:

  1. A Resident Assistant in Esopus Hall,
  2. A Student Ambassador,
  3. President of the National Residence Hall Honorary (honor society for the top 1% of student leaders on campus),
  4. Housing/Web Communication Chair for Mini’s 2010 (a HUGE conference New Paltz is hosting for about 350 college students in the northeast area), and above all
  5. A student (but sometimes it’s hard to remember that I am).

For the record, I didn’t put this up so you all could read my resume; it just shows that it’s really easy to get addicted to student leader stuff! And because I am an addict, I forgot to blog sometimes. Sad story. :-(

Well, let me get you up to date in my life. Classes are going really well, which is a plus. There difficult enough to give me a challenge, but I’m not collapsing under a massive workload, either. I’m not gonna lie– I dread going to class sometimes because I would rather catch up on sleep, but then I sit down and inevitably enjoy it. Mayhaps a nerd? If I am, whatevs. To all the nerds out there, stand up and be proud! Holla!

Weekends have been absolutely fantastic lately, which makes up for the hectic weekday life. On September 6th (oh my gosh. It really has been a long time since I’ve blogged…), I went tubing with some fantastic people. It was down the Esopus river, which is about 45 minutes away. The day was crazy! You literally sit in this big, black tube that has a wood bottom and float down the river. It sounds nice and relaxing, but it is not…at all. We took the “advanced” path, and goodness gracious, it was like white water rafting in a tiny tube by yourself. My friend Jessie would not let go of my tube for anything because she was really scared and thought I could be her moral support. Deep down, I was freaked out. Like, sometimes scared for my life (being dramatic again). I’ll put up some pictures! I didn’t take any going down the river because, well, my camera would become waterlogged, but here are some before and afters!

That's where we got our coffins-- edit-- tubes.

That same weekend, my staff and I hosted a Jell-o War in my building. That’s right– a Jell-o War! Basically, we went to the backyard of our residence hall and threw Jell-o at each other. You might be thinking, “Wow. That is absolutely disgusting! Why would anyone do that?!” Lo and behold, it is the most disgusting thing you can do on a hot Saturday afternoon. And why would we do it? Because it is SO fun! To let you live vicariously through the Esopus Hall Warriors, here are some great action shots!

And this past weekend, I had some good, clean fun at Mohonk! It’s a really beautiful resort about 15 minutes away from campus. It’s not only a resort, but an awesome place to do some hiking, which is one of my favorite pastimes. We got there every year with the First Year Initiative program (the first year program at New Paltz) as a retreat for the students. It’s a fun way for the staff and the students to get to know each other. And hey! Who doesn’t love a free field trip?! Once again, here are some fab pics. I think my blog is going to end up being an online photo album. Kill two birds with one stone!

Well, I really hope this blog makes up for some lost time! I promise I’ll be more on top of my life (and sharing it with you)! Tomorrow I’m going to Syracuse to visit one of my good friends, so I’ll be sure to take some more pictures and take note of every little detail of the weekend. :-P

Loving you all for being so patient,

Chris! <3
