Hey everybody!
It’s been rainy today and yesterday here in New Paltz, and I heard tomorrow it is going to be rainy, too! It was weird seeing everybody in hoodies and jeans, but that is also a good sign… APPLE PICKING SEASON IS NEAR!
Honestly, I love apple picking so much, so I will more likely than not make a post about it later, but here is a picture of me and my best friend last year from apple picking! (There are two great places that I will mention for apple picking… and one is only a short walk from UPD headquarters!)

Anyway, with the rain and all, I am sure most people are inside doing work most of the time. Since you are stuck being inside, nobody can walk around town, bike the rail trail, or even sit on a quad on campus to tan with friends. This is why we, the students of New Paltz, must find indoor activites to do, and this is also why I, Ashley, will present you with a fantastic option!
JOIN THE AWA! AWA stands for the African Woman’s Alliance, and my friend (buddy!) Danielle is the President of this Organization. Just because it is the African Woman’s Alliance does not mean men cannot join! Men are in fact strongly encouraged to come, because they will then be exposed to different views from what they normally think. The AWA unites people of all backgrounds, and together they educate, do community service, different fundraisers, etc! There are also fun events, such as their Battle of the Sexes program, Kwanza Dinner, and Niabinji, which is a night of expressions. Here, you can perform whatever you may desire (poetry, dance, singing, etc!) This is a great organization that I highly recommend everybody to check out! Their first GI is THIS THURSDAY in the Student Union building at 7 PM! I hope the AWA members and E-Board will be seeing you there in Room 418!
More clubs can be founded at: http://www.newpaltzsa.com/organizations/current
Now that I have bombarded you with information, it is your turn to reciprocate. What do you like to do on a rainy day? Post your reply so everybody can see fun rainy day activities, and pretty soon we will all have a pretty awesome list of things to do.
Off to the wonderful world of Peer Mentoring and homework! Until next time,
- Ashley
