It’s been a really great two weeks but very busy. In between a lot of homework I managed to have some really fun days hanging out in the studio and with my roommates. Here are some of the highlights:
The Roadies came to campus from the Invisible Children organization on April 2nd. There was a good turn out of people who attended the event to watch “KONY 2012” which is a video that has gone viral and has over 80,000,000 views. Also Boni came from Africa to share his story.
This summer I will be interning at Michael Kors in the Jewelry Design Department, which is really exciting. I had the interview last Tuesday in the city and they called me later that day to offer me the position. Part of the interview was held in the jewelry department, which was amazing to see, since there was jewelry, and story boards everywhere. My responsibilities will be too organize the office, assist in renderings of pieces on the computer, and attend meetings. I start on May 29th and I am working three days a week on Tuesday, Wednesday, ad Thursday from 9am to 6pm. I will also be commuting to the city on these days. I am looking forward to the experience of working with other designers and in the fashion industry.
Walkway Over the Hudson
Since the weather was warm and sunny on Friday my roommates and I decided that we wanted to spend the afternoon outside. We decided to walk on the Walkway Loop Trail which is a 3.6 mile walk that starts at the Walkway Over the Hudson and circles around to the Mid Hudson Bridge and back. It was a fun adventure for us since this was our first time on the loop. We were all really excited and a little skeptical as to how the loop would take us from one bridge to the other and back but there were plenty of signs pointing us in the right direction. It was also the first time in a few months my roommates and I spent time all together since out schedules have been really different. Overall I had a fun day and I ate some green tea ice cream later in the night.
Im currently working on a few different projects most of them involving tea. I realized that I am exploring the concept of teaware and using it as a material lately in my work. It is a good start to next semester since I will be developing a thesis for my senior year.
Until Next Time!
