HvZ: Day 3 & 4

Days 3 & 4 have become a giant blur. In the need to feed to survive I have forgotten most of the details of the day. Just kidding! The epic victories on both sides are in need of dramatic telling!

Day 3: This was day dedicated to the hunt. Without any classes I took it as an opportunity to go on the prowl. The decision was not regretted. I ran into a few humans within the first 20 minutes out. I crouched down immediately and hid. They continued walking cautiously. I knew that if I didn’t time it right it would backfire. I charge them with speed, stealth, and power. As I reached them they noticed another zombie walking around. In that one moment. They turn and blast me. I congratulate them for their quick reflexes. Sadly this was the most action I saw during that day. The mission was won by the humans without the zombies being fully mobilized. They were really the winners of the day. Their prize? Antidotes granting them an extra life. Continue reading

HvZ: Day 2

Day 2 began in a unvictorious way. I awoke for my 10:50 class and saw a human outside of my window. I sighed as I could not get him. On my walk to class I saw one running from building to building. I ran to him, but was blocked by people who were not playing the game. I know it wasn’t intentional, but the pain of losing the kill still stings. It did not end there. I went to the bathroom during class and out of the corner of my eye I saw three humans getting ready to leave the library heading towards Smiley art building. I ran down to greet them. Again a non player interfered. They warned them with a watch out! They stunned me multiple times. I sighed and went back to class. I met up for a hunting session with my suite-mate Cameron. We spotted a human walking to his off campus apartment. Cameron ran as fast as he could, but the human heard us. I sped up and was right on his tail. I dropped everything I could and almost got him, but sadly it was a no go. As this happened I scared another human with my ferociousness right into Cameron’s arms. This was only in the morning. The afternoon took a turn in favor of us Zombies. Continue reading

Humans Vs. Zombies: Day 1

This past Monday began the rise of the zombie invasion here in New Paltz, otherwise known as Humans vs. Zombies (HvZ). For those of you who don’t know what HvZ is time for a quick crash course. HvZ is a giant game of tag played across this campus, but with a few twists. One side has humans whose sole purpose is to survive the week without getting tagged and being converted into a zombie. You can guess that the zombies’ goal is to get the humans on their side. It isn’t all bad for humans they are armed with socks and Nerf guns for their own protection. If a zombie is hit with a sock or Nerf darts they are stunned for 15 minutes and cannot tag humans. Now you’re probably asking yourself “how do you know if a person is a human or a zombie?”. Everyone is required to wear a bandana and where you tie it up says what side you’re on. If it is on your head you are a zombie and if its on your arm you are a human. The last thing that needs to be known is that buildings are safe zones. You cannot be tagged while you’re inside, but the second you’re out it is fair game. Those are the basics to the game, but let me tell ya something: playing is a completely different monster. Continue reading

TIL: Spirit Weekend Can Change Everything

Howdy y’all!

So here comes part 2: Spirit Weekend!

What is Spirit Weekend? Spirit Weekend is a combination of awesomeness and ewpic times! It’s broken down into 3 days:

Day 1! I’ve talked about Buzz berfore (fun karaoke timez) so I won’t tell you about that, but I will say that there was such a huge turnout for this Buzz. One hall alone brought 30 people! The real focus of this day was penny wars. Penny wars is a way for halls to raise money for a certain cause, this year it was the Make a Wish Foundation. They do this by trying to get the most pennies out of all 13 halls and commuters. It’s not that simple however. Silver coins count as negative points. If they had any silver in their jars they lost points. To make it worse we also had sabatoge cups/bowls at the events.  Since it was all due at Buzz it was no surprise that we had tons of jars full of pennies. I put the sabatoge bowls out and after 5 minutes there were halls that had their bowls overflowing. I gotta say it was interesting seeing everyone so into this part! We managed to raise over $700 for the cause! Congrats to Scudder for winning Penny Wars! Continue reading

TIL: How To Give Blood

Howdy everyone! It’s been a while since I last posted and a lot has happened! I think I’ll be doing a double feature (dun dun dunnn).

Part 1: Blood Drive on campus.

Part 2: Spirit Weekend!

So let’s begin! This week my fraternity, Kappa Delta Phi, hosted a two day blood drive. It was held in the Student Union’s Multi-Purpose Room (If you decide to attend here you’ll be in here a few times!). Now this is a huge room maybe the size of a gym. It was divided into 4 areas: Iron testing, wait area, donation area, and my favorite the juice and cookie area!

The basic process goes a little like this: Continue reading

TIL: Punk Goes Pop 4 Has Been Announced!

Howdy y’all!

So in one of my earlier posts I told you about fascination with cover songs. Well today seems like an amazing day to talk all about them. I say this because of 4 reasons:

1) I’ve been rocking out to covers all day. All. Day.

2) Glee was on earlier this week! It is a cover song musical show! How awesome is that?!?!!?

3) I’m going to an A Capella show in about an hour!

4) The Punk Goes… series has announced their next CD.

I’ll be talking about all those things :D Continue reading
