Finding Nemo

Hey everyone,

So I am writing this in the midst of a pending snow storm. I don’t mind the snow as long as I don’t have to drive anywhere and I can just sit in my house with movies and hot chocolate. The only dilemma when it comes to snow and being a commuter is, if classes aren’t cancelled do I show up or not??? As a commuter it is a tough decision to attend class if it is bad weather yet your classes aren’t cancelled. Luckily for me most of my professors are very understanding and won’t penalize you for missing in the case of bad weather. So far my classes are not cancelled for today but I made the decision not to attend. Only one question goes through my mind and it makes my decision very easy. Is it worth getting in a car accident to drive all the way there for one class? Answer: No. So there you have it. Its a three day weekend for me. I love all the people that rush to the food store and buy gallons of water and eggs and milk. Realistically we are only going to be snowed in for 1 day. There is no way you need 7 gallons of water and 4 dozen eggs. It does provide some amusement to see people shopping in this panicked manner as if we can never leave our houses again for 3 years. Well that’s all I have to say about the snow which they felt the need to name Nemo.

Today marks the end of week 3 of classes. I can’t believe how quickly time is flying. I am three weeks closer to graduation and as excited as I am, I am also a little sad. Another major life experience is close to being over and will soon be an experience I have to look back on. I am really excited for a new phase in my life to begin. Graduate school will be my final step in procuring my future career as a speech language pathologist. Now all I am doing is playing the waiting game. My future is in the hands of the admissions Gods. I never ¬†went through the whole college application process because I started off at a community college and transferred to New Paltz. This was the first time I had to write a resume, a personal statement and its the first time I ever applied to a program that really means everything to me. If you are a first year college student you know how it is applying to all different schools and the stress you feel when you have to make sure everything is sent in and perfect by the deadline. Although it is really stressful, I know wherever I end up it will all be worth it in the end. So my advice is stay motivated, plan for your future, take up every opportunity you can and don’t hope time passes too quickly.

I am still getting used to using my Mac computer. It has made me paranoid about losing papers I have typed up for classes but I am slowly learning. On a funner note I did get the iPhone this week and it is my first smart phone ever! I am finally caught up with all the technology of this century! Well that is all i have for this week. Thanks as always for reading and enjoy the snow! I will be having a wine and movie night with a few of my best friends. Not a bad way to spend a snow weekend :)
