I stumbled across a book this week, actually I jogged past it in town. The cover caught my eye so I decided to go back for it. Inside the tattered pages I found a wealth of beautiful quotes.
“Your only obligation in any lifetime is to be true to yourself.” Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah
How beautiful is that??? The Wallkill Valley Rail Trail is right in town and a gorgeous place to explore. You never know what you may find- even some inspiration.
You will find a (never-ending) trail complete with a stream, bridges, and maybe even your own inspirational book. I definitely recommend that you take a stroll through the trail!
This week, NRHH, The National Residence Hall Honorary, hosted a really powerful program, Tunnel of Oppression.
It is a very strong awareness raising program. We shed light on the many forms of oppression, ranging from racism, cyberbullying, to domestic violence, all the way to suicide. We wanted to start talking about things these issues, and ways we can help! It was a lot of work to put together, but well worth it in the end. We networked with other clubs, Residence Life, academics, and invited students to volunteer and attend the program! I am proud to say that as a student you have many opportunities to create a great program, show, event, etc.
Back in Bevier, we hosted our own Open Door Challenge program. It helped build community by inviting residents to keep their suite doors open and meet each other. The champs won a free pizza party : ) Needless to say there was a little healthy competition between my residents.
I can not believe this semester is almost over! :) I wish everyone best of luck with finals! They will be here before we know it!
